Tutorship and internship at University of Computer Studies of Yangon UCSY – year 2018
Based on the foundations of his mission Culture2all plays the role of the liaison between some Myanmar and Italian universities for helping future developments of students, researchers and professor exchanges and for starting some common projects in the field of advanced IT techniques applied to cultural heritage.
On May 1st started the three months internship program managed by Culture2all with 3 students of last year from UCSY : Zin Mar Moe , Kaung Htet Lin, Henny Lyn Stella . They will be followed by a continuous tutorship by the Culture2all’s volunteer team : Prof. Monica Sebillo assistant professor @ University of Salerno, Prof. Luca Marescotti distinguished professor of Polytechnic of Milan, and Eng. Giuseppe Mattiozzi and Prof. Mauro Salvemini distinguished professor of Sapienza University of Rome. The students will be locally guided and assisted by Tr. Yadana Thein professor @ UCSY while PhD Zar Chi Aye researcher @ University of Lausanne is the liaison for scientific programs.
The internship program aims to create adequate skills for the three students in GIS ( Geographic Information Systems) applied to cultural heritage of Myanmar. QGIS , Phyton and DBMS will be used to develop a preliminary management information system for the huge patrimony of Myanmar cultural heritage.
Mauro Salvemini, distinguished professor of Sapienza University of Rome and well known international expert in GIS and spatial data infrastructures, has been invited by the UCSY ( University of Computer Studies of Yangon) as visiting professor in March 2018. He gave lectures about information systems , geographic information systems and advanced survey and
mapping technologies applied to cultural heritage to PhD students and set up the basis together with the Rector Prof. MieMie Thet Thwin and Tr. Yadana Thein for further developments in the field of IT applied to cataloguing, surveying and managing the huge cultural heritage of Myanmar monuments and historical sites. As already stated in the workshop .
Spatial Data Infrastructure for Cultural Heritage Risk Management in Myanmar
held at the Free University of Bolzano in 2015 there is a need of the systematic official catalogue of the monuments and historical sites in Myanmar.
